Located in Sandford on the picturesque South Arm Peninsula, Catherine Lodge Farm Gate Cottages is surrounded by beautiful beaches and traditional farming land, offer their guests the unique opportunity of a country style holiday in contemporary designed cottages, all within easy distance of Hobart’s famous tourist attractions.
Catherine Lodge Farm Gate Cottages are located just 25 minutes from the Hobart International Airport and only 30kms from Hobart city centre.
30 minutes north east is the historic village of Richmond and the Coal Valley Wine Region.
Take the 90 minute journey south east to the scenic Tasman Peninsula which features some of Tasmania’s iconic tourist attractions, including Dunnalley, Pirates Bay, Eaglehawk Neck, and historic Port Arthur.
Drive a little further and you come to Opossum Bay at the end of peninsula.
With yachts moored in the bay and children playing on the beach, this delightful sleepy village nestles itself around the edges of the River Derwent and basks in last of the summer sun before it slips behind Mount Wellington.
Other nearby beaches are Clifton, Cremorne, Lauderdale, Roches and Seven Mile Beaches.
Catherine Lodge Farm Gate Cottages are situated on the edge of the wild Southern Ocean between the aptly named Storm Bay, Frederick Henry Bay, Pipeclay Lagoon and Ralphs Bay.
As you drive south you pass some great beaches and spots to take in the view. While Goats Bluff and Betsey Island offer great views, Goats Beach is a popular surfing beach. Bring your rods as beach fishing is on the agenda anywhere along the coastline.
Catherine Lodge Farm Gate Cottages is only 10 minutes from the safe and quiet, child-friendly South Arm beach, Ye Olde South Arm Store, Post Office, Chemist, the Iron Pot Coffee Lounge and the local RSL Club which offers great meals and friendly service.
For that round of golf the 9 hole, South Arm Golf Course is only 5 minutes away. However for the serious golfer there is a selection of Hobart's three top golf courses all within 20 minutes drive.
Near the entrance to Musks Road is Tangara Trail Rides offering relaxing bush, beach and horse trail rides.
Along Musks Road, near Catherine Lodge Cottages is Windemere Farm Agistment, offering an indoor all weather horse riding arena for hire.
Head off north towards Hobart and you will find the beachside suburb of Lauderdale on the edge of Ralphs Bay.
Here is a tavern and bottleshop, bakery and pizza shop, takeaway, chemist, petrol station and a number of small convenience stores; including the local IGA with a difference; the Hill St Grocer is renowned for it's pre-prepared meals, gourmet and deli products supplied mostly by local growers and suppliers.
